Frequently Asked Questions About Whiplash
So, what IS whiplash? What are the symptoms? Can it cause long-term damage? What’s the best form of treatment, and how does Chiropractic help whiplash? We’d like to take a minute to answer these commonly asked questions for you!
Whiplash can be the result of a car crash, or even a sudden jarring motion. In some way the spine, typically the head and neck, were whipped around quickly in one direction, then rebounded in the opposite direction, be that side to side or front to back. This motion can cause misaligned spinal bones as well as nerve, disc, muscle, ligament, joint, and tendon stress, irritation or damage. In chiropractic, there is a term we use to describe these misalignments: subluxation.
Subluxations are nerve interference or damage, that prevent your body from healing and working properly. Dr. Sheaffer removes subluxations from patients using safe, proven, effective, natural, drug-free treatments in the form of spinal adjustments.
By finding and removing the subluxations, Dr. Sheaffer helps new patients suffering with either a new or chronic whiplash, begin their path to proper healing. This form of non-invasive treatment will allow your body to heal faster and better!
We Can Help
Although it is important directly following an injury or auto accident, to make sure there are no life-threatening emergencies, once it is determined that there are no fractures or internal health concerns, it is very important to seek treatment from a doctor of chiropractic.
Chiropractors will be able to find and correct hidden health problems not easily noticed in typical x-rays, MRI’s or CT scans that, if left untreated, can result in a long-term damage in the form of symptoms, problems and health issues which can show up months, if not years, later- even in patients that “walk away” from an accident or injury.
Some symptoms can include dizziness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, vision problems or eye pain, sensitivity to light, nasal problems as well as lower back pain and even internal organ problems.
